PFC is pleased to collaborate with the Calgary Chamber of Voluntary Organizations, the Burns Fund, the United Way of Calgary, Education Matters and others to offer a limited number of The Pulse of Philanthropy delegates a chance to attend sessions of a special workshop for Calgary-based grantmakers, Connecting to Change. This workshop will take place at the conference hotel, the Westin Calgary. Simply complete the registration form. You will receive a confirmation of your registration by email.
You may choose from one of the following sessions:
- Session 1: Bob Harrington from LaPiana Consulting, talking about strategic restructuring. LaPiana is an American firm which specializes in working with non-profits around strategic restructuring, partnerships, mergers, collaborations, and strategic planning.
- Session 2: Lois Savage, from the Lodestar Foundation in Phoenix, talking about the funder role in creating a climate to support collaborations. The Lodestar Foundation seeks to maximize the growth and impact of philanthropy through the pursuit of two strategies: (1) to encourage philanthropy, public service and volunteerism; and (2) to encourage and support collaborations, consolidations, mergers and other long-term cooperative activities among nonprofits working in the same area, and to encourage other business practices, in order to increase efficiency and eliminate duplication of efforts. Lois will also speak to the Foundation’s newest initiative, The Collaboration Prize.
- Session 3: Ruth McCambridge editor of The Nonprofit Quarterly, will speak about present trends and implications for nonprofits in a financial downturn, addressing specifically the role of funder practice. Ruth will also provide information on different aspects of a major research project NPQ is involved in which follows 30 nonprofits in a detailed and intimate way.
