In the News! Major Change to Disbursement Quota (80/20 Rule)
The March 4 federal budget announced a significant change to the application of the disbursement quota for charities going forward. In future charities, including foundations, will no longer have to disburse 80% of tax-receipted gifts in the year after receipt. The concept of enduring property and the ten-year gift rule will no longer be relevant (although existing gift agreements will not change).
